Sydney Sixers will look to make it three in three, as it faces the Melbourne Stars Women in the ongoing edition of the Women’s Big Bash League. The Sixers have so far looked like the team to beat and will go into this match as the favorites once again. The Melbourne Stars have some exciting players in their squad and are no pushovers either.

SYDW vs MLSW Team Previews

Sydney Sixers Women

The Sydney Sixers have made a great start to the season, winning each of its two opening matches. After beating the Brisbane Heat in a thriller in the opening match, the Sixers defeated Adelaide Strikers with relative ease in the last match. Choosing to bat first, the Sydney Sixers put up a target of 152 runs, thanks to a terrific second-wicket partnership of 131 runs between Suzie Bates and captain Ellyse Perry.

The Strikers fell short by 17 runs, allowing the Sixers to take the top spot.

Ellyse Perry has easily been the pick of the batters and has been ably supported by the others in the top order, including Bates and Erin Burns. The bowling department meant too has performed well, with the left-arm orthodox spinner Sophie Ecclestone being particularly dangerous for the opposition. She, along with Maitlan Brown is likely to cause problems for  the Melbourne batters.

Melbourne Stars Women

Melbourne Stars played some good cricket in its opening match against Brisbane Heat but ultimately fell short by 9 runs. Lauren Winfield-Hill, who had an excellent outing in The Hundred, scored a valiant 74 in that game and will be one player to watch out for during the rest of the season. All-rounder Alice Capsey too is expected to play a key role in this encounter, as she is known to be a busy scorer, and can also chip in with the ball if the need arises.

Talking about the weaknesses, Melbourne batters are likely to struggle against the talented bowling lineup of the sixers. The departure of Lanning and Villani will significantly dent the Stars’ ability to score runs. In short, if the top order fails to fire, the Stars are likely to struggle in this game.

Pitch and Conditions

Harrup Park is one of the easier surfaces to bat on in Australia, and we are likely to see a high-scoring encounter in this match. With clear skies predicted for match-day, we should have an exciting game on our hands. A par score for the first innings is around 140 runs, and anything above 150 will be pretty difficult to chase.

SYDW vs MLSW Betting Tips

We are backing the Sydney Sixers to win this one. The Melbourne Stars lack the quality bowlers that can restrict them to a small total. Also, with a pretty long tail, the Stars are likely to struggle in case the top-order fails to perform.

Bet on a Sydney Sixers win.
