WI vs ZIM Match Prediction - Oct 19, 2022

West Indies lost its first match against Scotland in a listless display. The two-time former World Champions will be the favorite at all cricket betting sites for their next match against Zimbabwe but punters have to think long and hard about actually backing them.

Zimbabwe is a tough team to get past. It showed in the match against Ireland that its bowling is strong and the batting was not too shabby either. Could we have yet another upset in the T20 World Cup 2022?

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for West Indies vs Zimbabwe T20 World Cup 2022. The match will be played at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart on the 19th of October 2022.

WI vs ZIM Team Previews

West Indies

West Indies bowled poorly at the start, made a decent comeback, and then gave away runs at the death once more. Jason Holder was the only bowler that found the right length from the start and Alzarri Joseph also managed to get in some searing yorkers during the end. There were too many wayward deliveries bowled.

The tricky part for the West Indies is that they will be facing a better batting team now than they did in the previous match. The batting effort was just schoolboyish as well. The batters did not take the time to get used to the wicket and tried to just bully the opposition. At one stage the West Indies was 53/1 in 5.3 overs before it lost its way completely.

Would you trust this batting lineup to deliver against the Zimbabwe bowling attack? For some reason, the West Indian players play a lot better when they are individually placed in franchise teams and struggle when they come together as a group.

West Indies Playing 11

Kyle Mayers, Evin Lewis, Johnson Charles, Nicholas Pooran, Shamarh Brooks, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Odean Smith, Obed McCoy.

Zimbabwe

Sikandar Raza has been in terrific form over the last six months, scoring centuries in ODI cricket and playing crucial innings in T20s as well. He was instrumental in helping Zimbabwe qualify and he will also be very important in this match. The trouble for Zimbabwe is that he cannot be expected to do it all on his own every time.

That is where the likes of Sean WIlliams, Craig Ervine, Wesley Madhevere, and Ryan Burl come in. They should not be underestimated and we think are quite capable of playing well against a relatively weak West Indies attack.

Zimbabwe's bowling was at its best against Ireland. Richard Ngarava picked up two early wickets, Blessing Muzarabani was breathing fire, and the others were disciplined also. The spinners for Zimbabwe are average and if the new ball bowlers do not make inroads then Zimbabwe could end up conceding a lot of runs.

Zimbabwe Playing 11

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions in Hobart are pretty good and there is no rain forecast for match day. As far as the pitch goes, this is traditionally a high-scoring venue where a lot of runs are scored. Zimbabwe showed that 170 is quite easily achievable and we think that should be seen as just about par. The short square boundaries can be attacked by batters from both teams.
